Point Turton Caravan Park and a conversion of the old Coobowie school grounds will benefit from $50,000 in SA Government funding from the Australian Tourism Commission Development Fund.
Point Turton Caravan Park will receive $30,000 to allow the collection of rainwater and stormwater run-off for use in the amenities blocks and to provide improved water quality in showers and washing machines. The amenities block will recycle the water from showers and washing machines and put it through subsurface irrigation to water the grounds — saving more than one million litres of water per year. A grant of $20,000 will go towards the conversion of the former Coobowie school into a multi-function accommodation centre, to house up to 50 guests. Aimed at large groups and families, the facility will provide accommodation with separate sleeping quarters but communal dining, lounge and kitchen areas. |
